About The Position

Responsible for supervising teachers and students, assisting in the hiring of new staff, coaching staff, and developing age-appropriate curricula for optimum development of children. Overseeing student assessments, conducting staff training, managing daily operations, ensuring all policies and procedures are met, keeping all staff and student personnel files up to date. Ensuring that the center remains in compliance with all NYC DOE and Department of Health applicable laws and requirements for operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field of study.
  • Teaching certification or license valid for services in the early childhood or childhood grades as pursuant to NYS UPK regulations.
  • Two years of lead teacher experience in a program serving children less than six years of age
  • Must be adaptable to meet the needs of the families in the program in addition to working flexible hours to accommodate working parents

  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with the NYC PKFA/3K Policy and Procedures
  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Early Childhood to ensure high quality implementation of the NYC DOE Units of Instruction throughout the program
  • Assesses instructional needs, and ensures PKFA/3K procedures/protocols are followed
  • Trains and coaches teaching staff to meet program standards
  • Leads common planning sessions
  • Creates and monitors daily classroom and site schedules
  • Provide classroom coverage as needed to ensure continuous instructional support, compliance, and student safety
  • Reviews weekly lesson plans
  • Ensures the implementation of Positive Behavior Guidance, as per PKFA/3K guidelines
  • Models and fosters positive family engagement; develops plans for all families to extend the child's learning at home
  • Uses ECERS and CLASS evaluations to plan for and implement ongoing program support
  • Supervises staff in terms of meeting NYC DOE Early Childhood Framework for Quality expectations to ensure the program meets the varied needs of the children and families they serve
  • Works with Executive Director to evaluate staff performance
  • Use student assessment data to work with staff to meet the needs of all students
  • Manages or assists in timely completion of all paperwork relating to PKFA/3K
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned within the scope of position
