About The Position

This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics. Job Focus Area: At the Louisiana Department of Education, our mission is to ensure every student is on track to college, career, and life success. We support schools and districts across the state by providing high-quality assessments, data tools, and accountability systems that focus on improving educational outcomes for all students. We are seeking an Educational Consultant 4 within the Office of Assessments, Accountability, and Analytics to lead major statewide birth-12 accountability initiatives. This role oversees the development and execution of accountability policies, reporting structures, and program operations while collaborating with internal divisions, school systems, vendors, researchers, and policymakers to ensure successful implementation. This role serves as a subject matter expert on accountability policy and practice, translating complex data, research, and legislative requirements into actionable strategies that support schools and inform statewide decision-making. The ideal candidate is skilled at managing large-scale initiatives, building cross-functional partnerships, and balancing policy vision with operational execution.

Requirements

  • Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of statewide birth–12 accountability initiatives.
  • Oversee the execution of accountability policies, frameworks, and performance measures.
  • Manage accountability reporting structures and ensure the accurate and timely release of accountability results.
  • Coordinate and oversee accountability program operations to support statewide implementation.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on accountability policy and implementation.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal laws, regulations, and legislative requirements related to accountability.
  • Translate complex data, research findings, and policy requirements into actionable recommendations and implementation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal divisions to align accountability initiatives with broader agency priorities.
  • Partner with school systems and education stakeholders to support understanding and implementation of accountability policies.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, researchers, and technical partners.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical assistance on accountability-related issues.
  • Lead cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Develop and present reports, guidance, and recommendations to agency leadership, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of accountability measures and recommend improvements based on data, research, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure accountability systems provide meaningful, transparent, and actionable information to support school improvement and student success.
  • Balance long-term policy goals with operational and implementation considerations to ensure successful execution of statewide initiatives.
