About The Position

Utilizing Practice-Based Coaching (PBC), support teachers’ use of effective teaching practices that lead to positive outcomes for children. Assists teachers with their implementation of practices with supports, including technical assistance, co-teaching, and communities of practice, mentoring, and coaching. Coaching may be provided through group professional development, group meetings, or individualized intensive supports.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Three (3) years’ experience in an Early Childhood Education Programs.
Must be able to pass all required background checks.
Show proof of a physical exam signed by a licensed physician that declares, to the best of the physician’s knowledge, the physical capability of the staff member to perform the essential duties required or obtain a physical through CAA’s provider.
A negative TB test within the last 12 months or before starting position.
Valid Michigan Driver’s license.
Must have available transportation daily.
Must have the ability to travel outside the area, including overnight.
Ability to relate to all socioeconomic groups in a professional manner.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to compose and edit letters, including collecting, analyzing, presenting data/information for meeting or training purposes.
Must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize and complete tasks within a timely manner, coordinating several tasks simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines.
Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
Must have initiative to anticipate situations.
Good rapport with various socio-economic levels.
Must be flexible in attitude.
Promote teamwork.
Participate as a team member with other Agency staff and as part of interagency teams.
Maintain absolute confidentiality in all sensitive matters using tact and diplomacy promoting team participation with agency staff and interagency teams.
Must be conscientious and alert in a busy and often hectic atmosphere with ability to handle numerous tasks at once.

Nice To Haves

Previous coaching or mentor experience, preferred.
CLASS Certification.
TS Gold and others as required.

Responsibilities

Know and function in accordance with all required standards and licensing guidelines including Head Start Performance Standards, Great Start Readiness Program Standards, NAEYC Standards, and State of Michigan Child Daycare Licensing Regulations.
Must adhere to CAA’s and Head Start philosophy and goals in order to help families become self-sufficient and parents to become more actively involved in their child’s lives.
Recognize existing strengths of education staff and build positive, trusting, coaching relationships. Adapt successfully to diverse learning styles.
Identify and target needs within the classroom setting for additional resources and supports to promote successful outcomes.
Plan goals and action steps with classroom staff that are receiving PBC. Typical caseload will range from 10-12 individuals at any given time.
Engage in focused observations for both staff and overall classroom to ensure quality preschool programming.
Reflect on and share feedback about teaching practices with classroom staff and managers.
Support ongoing CLASS observations and develop professional development to support child and classroom outcomes.
Provides classrooms coverage when needed.
Travels to assigned classrooms, in-service trainings, seminars, and other assigned meetings.
