About The Position

The CRVA works to deliver experiences that uniquely enrich the lives of our visitors and residents. Through leadership in destination development, marketing and venue management expertise, the CRVA leads efforts to maximize the region’s economic potential through visitor spending, creating jobs and opportunities for the community. Brands supported by the CRVA include the Charlotte Convention Center, Spectrum Center, Bojangles Entertainment Complex, NASCAR Hall of Fame, Charlotte Film Commission, Visit Charlotte and Visitor Info Centers. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is an interactive entertainment attraction honoring the history and heritage of NASCAR. The high-tech venue, designed to educate and entertain race fans and non-fans alike, includes artifacts, hands-on exhibits, a 278-person state-of-the-art theater, Hall of Honor, NASCAR Hall of Fame Gear Shop, and an attached parking garage on Brevard Street. The goal of the facility is to honor NASCAR icons and create an enduring tribute to the drivers, crew members, team owners and others that have impacted the sport in the past, present, and future. Job Summary The part-time, year-round Education Associate enhances the learning experience for NASCAR Hall of Fame guests both through in-person and virtual experiences. The Education Associate facilitates hands-on activities with guests, school groups and families through a variety of programs. Supporting facilitation of groups which can include youth programs, public programs (general public) or other events for families both on and off-site. Supports administrative duties and behind-the scene work which can include data entry and office-based projects, preparing supplies and materials, and supply management. Applicants will directly work with students and visitors of all ages and provide exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Direct Instruction or other teaching experience
  • Ability to effectively work in a digital environment to present programs and instructions
  • Flexible on adjusting how to deliver programming for effectiveness on the spot
  • High energy and organized with a passion for delivering high quality programs
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructional materials and background information.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups: clients, customers, managers, and the general public.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service to visitors.
  • Bachelor’s degree or pursuing a college degree in a science field or education
  • Prior experience working with children and youth for at least one year pre-k to grade 12 (including a museum, after-school, or youth program).
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to provide exceptional guest services and customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear understanding of science concepts.
  • Prior experience working with groups of at least 25 - 50
  • Work in a virtual environment with students in groups of 25 – 49 at one time
  • Work with adults and families in group settings from 25 – 300 individuals
  • Ability to work well as a team member or independently. Must enjoy working with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional knowledge of NASCAR and motorsports is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the facilitation of children and youth programs (on-site, virtually or off-site)
  • Facilitate public programs for general visitors and families.
  • Prepare materials and supplies for each activity.
  • Support with inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Assist with office and behind-the scenes projects which can include data entry or emails
  • Support crew staff as needed with running of floor interactives
  • Other duties & responsibilities as assigned
  • Required to work 24 hours per month to include days, evenings, weekends, and select holidays (i.e. New Years Day).
