About The Position

Living Resources is a non-profit human services agency dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities or other life-challenging conditions to live with dignity, independence, and happiness. The agency works with families as partners, providing care and services. The College Experience program, a collaboration between Living Resources and Russell Sage College, offers young adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to take classes, build friendships in a safe residential environment, and transition towards work and independent living. The Educational Assistant (EA) will support students in independent living, campus, and community integration/participation. The EA will primarily be based in student dorms, with occasional work at The College of Saint Rose campus and various community locations. The role involves providing small group instruction on domestic independent living skills, such as meal preparation, household chores, and self-advocacy, and counseling students on all aspects of independent living.

Requirements

HS Diploma or GED
Valid NYS drivers license is required

Nice To Haves

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in related field
Some experience working with people with disabilities

Responsibilities

Assist each student in the areas of independent living
Assist each student in campus and community integration/participation
Provide small group instruction on all domestic components of independent living, including, but not limited to, how to prepare a balanced meal, proper execution of household chores, and self-advocacy
Counsel our students to the best of their ability on any and all aspects of independent living
