About The Position

As a College for Kids Instructor, you will be responsible for leading engaging activities. Lesson plans will be provided to you. You will help create a fun, educational, and safe environment, while encouraging positive behaviors and building relationships with students. All materials and supplies are provided by MCC. Seeking instructors for Migrant Education Program camps during the summer of 2026. All camps are between July 13-24 and run 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Metropolitan Community College is a comprehensive, full-service public community college supported by the taxpayers of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Its purpose is to provide high quality educational programs and services, primarily in career preparation and general education, to people of all ages and educational backgrounds. MCC was created in 1974 when the Nebraska State Legislature consolidated the original eight technical community college areas into six. That year, the programs, personnel, assets and liabilities of the former Omaha Nebraska Technical Community College Area merged with the Eastern Nebraska Technical Community College Area under a new name: the Metropolitan Technical Community College Area. In 1992, the Legislature voted to change the name to Metropolitan Community College Area. Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities (e.g., arts and crafts, sports, team-building exercises, outdoor exploration, science experiments, etc.).
  • Provide clear instructions and guidance to students, ensuring they understand activity objectives and expectations.
  • Supervise and engage with students, maintaining a positive, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Ensure student safety and well-being by following camp safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Adapt activities based on student needs and interests, ensuring all children are included and engaged.
  • Foster a fun, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and trying new things.
  • Set up and clean up activity areas before and after each session.
  • Assist with any behavioral challenges, using positive reinforcement and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Communicate with fellow staff members and College for Kids Coordinator to ensure smooth operations.
