About The Position

THE EDUCATION & TRAINING MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLANNING, COORDINATION, DELIVERY, AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR EMS PROVIDERS ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION. THIS ROLE PLAYS A CRITICAL PART IN ENSURING NEW HIRES ARE SUCCESSFULLY ONBOARDED, CURRENT EMPLOYEES REMAIN CLINICALLY COMPETENT, AND ALL TRAINING ACTIVITIES MEET REGULATORY, ACCREDITATION, AND ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS. THE EDUCATION & TRAINING MANAGER OVERSEES NEW HIRE ORIENTATION, CONTINUING EDUCATION, REMEDIAL AND REFRESHER TRAINING, AND NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAMS SUCH AS CPR AND NAEMT COURSES. THIS POSITION WORKS COLLABORATIVELY WITH OPERATIONS, QUALITY/RISK, AND LEADERSHIP TO SUPPORT PROVIDER READINESS, PATIENT SAFETY, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of leadership or educational experience
  • Graduation From High School or equivalent
  • 19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes
  • Successful completion of NREMT Paramedic certification
  • Current NREMT and a State EMS License (or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a NAEMT EVOS or ability to obtain in 90 days.
  • Current AHA BLS & ACLS Instructor (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Current NAEMT Instructor (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Ability to provide quality patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of all state protocols for EMS providers.
  • Availability for recall in times of crisis
  • Ability to pass a lift test of 150 – 200 pounds.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to speak and write English.
  • Proven track record of success leading training programs for EMS professionals.
  • Knowledge of education and training best practices.

  • Comfort working in operational EMS environments, including ambulance bays, stations, and field training settings.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook/Teams, Traumasoft software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt training approaches based on operational needs and learner performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, risk, compliance, leadership, and clinical staff to ensure training aligns with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with EMS equipment and procedures, including patient movement and transport devices, for instructional demonstration purposes.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and consistency when working with new hires and current staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead EMS new hire orientation programs to ensure consistent onboarding, cultural integration, and readiness for field deployment.
  • Establish orientation standards and expectations related to professionalism, engagement, attendance, and policy compliance.
  • Partner with Operations and HR to ensure new hires meet all clinical, educational, and credentialing requirements prior to field clearance.
  • Identify training needs related to clinical performance, policy compliance, QA findings, and operational trends.
  • Develop and deliver remedial, refresher, and retraining programs for EMS providers as needed.
  • Ensure retraining is objective, educational, and aligned with quality improvement goals, not punitive in nature.
  • Manage CPR, NAEMT, and other approved EMS education programs, ensuring instructors, materials, and delivery methods meet national standards.
  • In times of scheduling crisis, work with operations to help staff with mission critical shifts.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, instructor assignments, and resource allocation.
  • Maintain compliance with continuing education, recertification, and credentialing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality/Risk and Clinical Leadership to align training initiatives with QA trends, sentinel events, and system improvements.
  • Ensure all education and training activities comply with state EMS regulations, national standards, and organizational policies.
  • Track training completion, competencies, and outcomes, maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to educators, instructors, leadership, and training staff.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for education-related questions and initiatives.
  • Participate in organizational committees, leadership meetings, and program evaluations as appropriate.
