About The Position

The Whitney’s Academic Year Internship program offers a semester-long paid internship for rising Juniors and above (to include Graduate students) enrolled in an accredited academic program. The internship is in person and onsite. For spring 2027, interns commit between 16–21 hours per week over 10–12 weeks for a total of 176 hours. The official program dates will span from January 18-April 26, 2027. Interns are assigned to a specific department at the Museum for the duration of the internship. The Whitney seeks an Education: Access Programs intern for the spring 2027 semester. Access Programs and Initiatives interns are expected to pick a research topic stemming from their experience in Access Programs and/or what they learned during their time in the department. Interns will also help with assist with access services for disabled and Disabled visitors. This includes helping prepare logistics for tours, submitting forms in preparation for tours, providing support for other programs scheduled by Access Programs and Initiatives.

Requirements

Rising Juniors and above (to include Graduate students) enrolled in an accredited academic program.
Experience working/volunteering or studying within access services, Disability Studies or Disability centered organizations.
Computer literacy.
Communication skills.

Responsibilities

Pick a research topic stemming from their experience in Access Programs and/or what they learned during their time in the department.
Assist with access services for disabled and Disabled visitors.
Help prepare logistics for tours.
Submit forms in preparation for tours.
Provide support for other programs scheduled by Access Programs and Initiatives.
Provide support that allows for tours and programs to go smoothly and successfully.
Assist the Access Programs and Initiatives team so they can prioritize urgent tasks by taking on tasks that are less urgent or not in need of managerial involvement.
