The Electrical Reliability EDS Technician is a key member of the Electrical Reliability Team at the Battleground Manufacturing Complex. This position is responsible for executing electrical testing, preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair activities on medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems. Working in support of the E/I Reliability Department, the technician plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and availability of electrical assets and infrastructure throughout the facility. The Electrical Reliability EDS Specialist will focus on the following core responsibilities and areas of expertise: Make safety a top priority and uphold the 20 safety principles, Life Saving Rules, and plant procedures and policies at all times. Support the company’s visions and values. Act as a leader within the Electrical Reliability & Maintenance group towards the Electrical Safety Program & NFPA 70E at BMC. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance (PM) on electrical distribution systems (12.47kV down to 480V Motor Control Centers main breakers) including creating custom tests, utilizing special test equipment, following established procedures, manufacturer’s recommendations, and recognized industry standards on the following types of equipment: Electro/Mechanical and Microprocessor Protective Relays Switchgear Circuit Breakers Distribution Transformers Oil and SF6 Switches Current and Potential Transformers Power Cables Grounding Systems Station Batteries and Chargers In-depth knowledge in the testing and PM’s of electrical substations (138kV and 69kV). In-depth knowledge in the operation, programming, and safe execution of the following (but not limited to) test equipment: Omicron CMC 356 relay test set Omicron CPC 100 / CP TD1 test set HV Diagnostics Tan-delta/VLF cable test set Insulation resistance test set AC High Pot DLRO Hand-held multimeters and current clamp on meters Alber battery resistance meter Analyze test data, recommend corrective actions, and develop appropriate response by coordinating with E/I Reliability Team, E/I Maintenance, and/or outside contractors. Generate detailed technical reports, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended and coordinating with the Electrical Reliability Group. Participating in cross-functional teams to identify and solve ongoing reliability problems to increase plant availability. Communicate effectively with the team on a regular basis regarding status and scheduling. Assist Electrical Reliability Engineering in the creation of Scopes-of-Work, JSA’s, & coordinate job walk-throughs with specialty contractors. This may include the following: Scoping, estimating and executing small capital projects and plant alterations Participating in contractor selection and management of contractor execution/performance Perform job responsibility in obtaining safe work permits, reviewing JSA’s, LOTO for contractors as a “job rep,” & perform QA/QC oversight of contractors. Perform all duties as a qualified electrical worker according to NFPA 70E – one that has demonstrated skills and knowledge related to the construction and operation of electrical equipment and installations and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved. Assist Electrical Reliability Engineering in the creation of switching orders; plan and execute high voltage and distribution system switching and isolation. Provide technical expertise in the troubleshooting of 480V/5kV motors/motor control circuits & motor protection relay programming/interrogation. Technical liaison to the maintenance & operations groups. Provide input on selection of equipment, review, and approval of specifications to support capital projects. Identify appropriate spare parts for equipment. Other duties as required.
