EDS Innovation Portfolio Manager
About The Position
The Engineering & Development Services (EDS) Innovation Portfolio Manager provides leadership, governance, and operational structure to transform ideas into business value across EDS. The role manages the innovation portfolio from concept evaluation through pilot execution, scaling, and benefits realization, aligning investments with strategic priorities and ensuring measurable outcomes. Working with EDS, technology, operations, and solution leaders, the manager balances experimentation, risk management, resource allocation, and value creation. As the central coordination point for innovation initiatives, the role facilitates collaboration across stakeholders, develops business cases, manages portfolio performance, and promotes awareness and adoption of new technologies and capabilities. Governance and reporting enable leadership to make informed investment decisions while supporting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The position acts as a lead for professionals across EDS and may provide work direction; it may also have direct reports. The work is performed in a typical office environment.
Requirements
- 12 or more years of applicable experience.
- Strong program and portfolio management capabilities.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups without direct authority.
- Effective organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Business-minded approach focused on practical outcomes and measurable value.
- Ability to balance innovation opportunities with operational priorities.
- Experience supporting technology adoption, continuous improvement, or innovation initiatives.
- Ability to complete applicable pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks, a drug screen, and a motor vehicle records search.

Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering innovation intake and evaluation process.
- Maintain visibility and reporting across active innovation initiatives.
- Assist leadership in prioritizing innovation opportunities according to business needs and expected value.
- Track project status, risks, outcomes, and resource requirements.
- Support portfolio planning and performance reporting.
- Facilitate innovation review meetings and stage-gate evaluations.
- Support development of business cases and investment recommendations.
- Prepare dashboards, status reports, and executive summaries.
- Monitor progress against defined success measures.
- Promote consistency in evaluation and decision-making processes.
- Assist project sponsors in defining expected benefits and success metrics.
- Track realized business outcomes and performance improvements.
- Support ROI assessments and value reporting.
- Identify opportunities to expand successful solutions.
- Share success stories and best practices across the organization.
- Support relationships with technology providers, industry organizations, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate innovation workshops, demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing events.
- Promote awareness of innovation initiatives and opportunities.
- Encourage collaboration and idea generation across engineering teams.
- Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Provide work direction as a lead for professionals across EDS; may also have direct reports.
