Citizen Media Group is an IRS-registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which houses two distinct public-facing publications: The Philadelphia Citizen and Philadelphia Magazine. Administrative, editorial and other business functions are shared across brands. The Philadelphia Citizen — a producer of solutions-oriented digital journalism, thought-leader events, and civic engagement opportunities — exists to reinvigorate democracy in the American city where it was born and to replicate the highest ideals of Aristotle’s polis: autonomy, self-governance, equality, tolerance, independence in our products and in our very DNA as an organization. Philadelphia Magazine — a print magazine and digital content legacy media brand — is the premier guide to how to take advantage of all the city and region offers, from its culture, its food, its eds and meds, its environs, its people, its must-read stories, and its storied sports teams. The Editorial Intern works with the Philadelphia Magazine and The Philadelphia Citizen editorial teams to support our print publication and both websites. Our interns receive intensive training in both print and digital media. Typical duties include researching and fact-checking articles, transcribing interviews, reporting and writing articles for both the website and magazine, and updating online content. Interns have daily interaction with our editorial staff and the many facets of the publishing industry. Interns should be motivated, detail-oriented self-starters with an interest in all things Philadelphia and sharp writing and reporting skills. This is an unpaid internship. To be eligible, you MUST be able to receive college credit for this internship, and you must be a currently enrolled college student to qualify.
