About The Position

This editorial intern role supports our newly formed manga initiative, KAZÉ. Interns will have an invaluable opportunity to learn about the publishing process for titles in a wide range of genres and will shadow passionate editors who are committed to bringing manga to the United States.

Requirements

• Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
• A resume and cover letter are required; applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
• Computer proficiency essential, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and Adobe programs.
• Candidate must have attention to detail (proofreading, keeping on top of deadlines when necessary, and task prioritization).
• Must have excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills
• Interest in learning the ins and outs of the publishing world is a must, as is a love of books, particularly manga and graphic novels.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to read and communicate effectively in Japanese a plus.

Responsibilities

• Writing reader reports
• Reading and evaluating potential acquisitions
• Learning to write cover copy and title sheets
• Researching and checking metadata
• Reviewing interior and cover passes
• Attending various department meetings

Benefits

• Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
