About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Intern to join the Mariner Group team! The Mariner Group consists of multiple imprints—Mariner, Amistad, HarperVia, and HarperCollins Español —each with its own carefully crafted focus and identity. Mariner Books is a destination imprint where authors of outstanding fiction, nonfiction, and books of lasting quality are published with creativity, vision, and care. Amistad Books is the most respected and storied imprint dedicated to publishing Black voices; for forty years, Amistad has been devoted to honoring the legacy of Black literature, amplifying the bold and unapologetic voices of today’s storytellers. HarperVia is an imprint dedicated to publishing extraordinary international voices, offering readers the chance to encounter other lives and other points of view via the language of the imagination. HarperCollins Español publishes a variety of books for the Spanish reader, from bestselling biographies, current affairs, practical guides, business, and self-help, to literary fiction, suspense, action, and book club fiction.

Requirements

  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Candidates must be available to work 21 hours per week across 3 or 4 days, from February 8 to April 16, 2027, at the location specified in the job description.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Candidates must demonstrate effective task prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts fact sheets, jacket copy, and reading group guides.
  • Reads and evaluates manuscript submissions and drafts rejection letters.
  • Attends various team and department meetings as interested.
  • The intern will learn about the book production process and provide additional assistance as needed.

Benefits

  • This internship is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.
