Reporting to the Associate Editor, the intern will develop skills in museum editorial practices, research, writing, editing, and digital publishing while gaining exposure to the communications functions of a major art museum. The internship provides hands-on experience supporting editorial projects across LACMA’s digital and print communications, including the Unframed blog and Insider magazine. The intern will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in marketing, press, education and public programs, graphic design, rights and reproductions, and curatorial departments. The internship provides exposure to the full editorial process, from research and content development through editing, publication, and post-publication review. Through mentorship and feedback from museum communications professionals, the intern will develop an understanding of museum editorial standards and practices and have opportunities to contribute published writing to LACMA’s communications platforms. The internship is based at LACMA’s main campus, with the possibility of partial remote work. Participants may also have opportunities to attend exhibitions, public programs, and other museum events to support editorial research and content development. This is a 16-week paid internship, approximately 16 hours per week at $18.47/hour.
