Editorial Intern - Dallas, Texas
About The Position
Community Impact's internship program is an innovative experience for individuals interested in launching their community journalism careers. Our Editorial Interns have the opportunity to work with industry veterans and to learn from experienced editors. Community Impact serves over 60 communities throughout Texas, and our print publications reach more than 2.5 million mailboxes each month. Throughout the program, participants get to contribute directly to our work by building their storytelling skills and diving into data-heavy assignments. Our Editorial Interns play a key role in informing our readers of important updates in their local communities.
Requirements
- Currently studying for a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
- Experience writing in AP Style, ideally for a student publication or media company
- Reliable transportation
- Enrolled in college and working toward their degree, or may have graduated within six months of the internship start date
- Experience working for a collegiate student publication or media outlet is required
- Ability to work outside of regular office hours to attend community meetings
- Ability to be out in the communities we serve, taking photos and connecting with sources

Responsibilities
- Writing web stories
- Shadowing reporters at local government meetings
- Contributing stories to the print product
- Writing for the Impacts and To-do List sections of the paper
