About The Position

FTI Consulting's Corporate Positioning and Insights (CPI&I) practice is seeking a talented and versatile Editorial Content Strategist with over 6 years of experience. This role is based in their New York, Chicago, or Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate is a multidisciplinary content strategist who excels at the intersection of earned media, digital strategy, and creative production. This position is suited for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong instincts for compelling storytelling, and can effectively transition between strategic planning and execution. The role involves close collaboration with the media relations team, acting as the primary content creator to develop powerful narratives for amplification across various channels.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in communications, PR, content strategy, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape and what makes content newsworthy.
  • Strong writing skills across various formats: long-form, short-form, organic social, paid media, executive voice.
  • Experience translating data and insights into multichannel content.
  • Experience working in or alongside digital and creative teams on integrated campaigns.
  • Comfort with the creative concepting process.
  • Ability to brief and collaborate with designers and producers.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams under deadline pressure.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including oversight of multichannel, integrated campaigns.
  • Proven ability to manage senior and junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead rapid response content development across earned, owned, and paid channels for large-scale campaigns, including breaking news and proactive campaign beats.
  • Serve as the editorial and strategic lead for content targeting diverse audiences such as media, policymakers, and regulators.
  • Monitor news cycles, track emerging trends, and identify opportunities to integrate clients into relevant conversations.
  • Draft and edit a variety of content with speed and precision, including press materials, digital copy, paid media scripts, and executive messaging.
  • Develop content strategies for long-term reputation-building projects, ensuring consistent narrative continuity across campaigns, channels, and client touchpoints.
  • Partner closely with the media relations team to ensure content is strategically aligned, on message, and ready for rapid deployment.
  • Collaborate with digital, creative, and design teams to conceptualize and produce campaign assets that align with strategic objectives.
  • Work across practice areas to ensure content is integrated, consistent, and supports broader campaign goals.
  • Apply journalistic instincts and strategic discipline to all content creation and production.
  • Collaborate with SEO, AEO, and analytics experts to optimize content performance and discoverability.
  • Stay current on emerging content trends, AI tools, audience behaviors, and platform best practices.
