About The Position

The Editorial Content Intern supports the Communications & Marketing team in bringing Wolf Trap's story to life through strategic storytelling and compelling content that engages audiences and promotes world-class performances. This intern will write, edit, and proofread editorial content for print and digital platforms, helping to shape communications that inspire audiences and reach thousands of concertgoers each year.

Requirements

• A strong, creative writer with an interest in the performing arts
• Exceptional copyediting skills and a sharp attention to detail
• Excellent research and organizational abilities
• Familiarity with AP Style
• Undergraduate students (must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study)
• Graduate students
• Recent graduates (up to 2 years out of school)
• Career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program
• International students (J-1 or F-1 Visa required)
• Must be physically located in and have a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia for the duration of their employment
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 percent of the time
• Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, printer, etc.)
• Occasionally required to walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
• Lift/move up to 10 pounds infrequently

Nice To Haves

• Journalism, public relations, and communication majors are preferred; however, great writing samples will make you stand out no matter your focus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, editing, and proofreading artist biographies for print and digital program books and publications.
• Research, write, and edit content pieces for program books, Wolf Trap’s News & Stories site, Wolf Trap Opera’s Insider Guide, and other public communications.
• Craft compelling performance copy to promote select shows.
• Assist with building digital program book pages on Wolf Trap's website.
• Provide support for the program book and publication review processes.
• Brainstorm and contribute new content ideas that share Wolf Trap’s story with diverse audiences.
