The Editor in Chief (EIC) will define a clear and compelling vision for the look, feel, and voice of the company's portfolio of products, including the existing weekly print newspaper, daily emails, website, and upcoming tablet and mobile platforms. This role requires a change agent who can drive staff adaptation to new mediums, platforms, skill sets, and story forms. The EIC must guide the business journal operation into new markets and competencies. A proactive, hands-on approach to leading the reporting staff is paramount, as the ability to produce engaging products directly stems from the EIC's interaction with and direction of the team. The EIC shares responsibility for growing print, digital, and event audiences, demanding a close relationship with the audience through blogging and Editor's Notebooks. Ensuring the vitality of print through thoughtful packaging, long-form journalism, and exclusive interviews is key. The EIC will also work with other department heads to create business and marketing plans, seek out content syndication channels and partnerships, and serve as the primary newsroom conduit between the local market and ACBJ-corporate for national editorial and news initiatives. Meeting or exceeding audience engagement goals, regularly participating in sponsored events, and taking on other assignments from managers are also expected. Cooperation and collaboration with colleagues and professional conduct with sources are essential.
