About The Position

Responsibilities Single managing editor to oversee editorial and creative staff, ensure commercial-quality content development and publishing aligned with journalistic standards and government editorial intent; validate factual accuracy and policy compliance of Senior Military Engagement Program (SMEP) publications. Key Responsibilities Provide senior editorial oversight and day-to-day management of journalists, editors, and creative staff across SMEP publications. Enforce journalistic and editorial standards, fact-checking, and quality control consistent with industry best practices and government intent. Approve editorial calendars, publication schedules, style guides, and final content for release. Coordinate with government stakeholders to ensure content alignment with policy, security, and messaging guidance. Manage workflows, staffing, quality assurance, and contractor editorial processes. Oversee translation/foreign-language production as required; coordinate with language SMEs. Produce decision-grade briefs and metrics on publication performance and compliance. Qualifications Required Qualifications Education and years of experience: Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD Clearance: TS with eligibility for SCI at proposal submission and ability to maintain SCI access. Experience: Significant experience directly managing professional journalists and creative staff across multiple publications (newspapers, magazines, online) within executive editorial guidelines. Skills: Strong editorial judgment, fact-checking and content verification, staff leadership, publication workflow management, stakeholder coordination, and high-quality editorial production. Desired Qualifications Minimum 3 years’ experience with foreign language versions / translations to/from English. Prior experience supporting government or DoD publications preferred. Target Salary Range $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
