Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff both orally and in writing.
  • Previous experience as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or similar
  • Assists with toileting i.e. bedpan, commodes, urinals, incontinence care.
  • Proper body mechanics for transfers/ambulation.
  • Vital signs.
  • Completion of phlebotomy course; with at least 120 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena OR 75 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena with one (1) year healthcare experience required OR Five (5) years of continuous phlebotomy experience OR Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • National Phlebotomy Certification required within 6 months or National Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months.
  • Completion of AHA – BLS Healthcare Provider Course – Current and On-going
  • Successful completion of Orientation program including classroom and clinical components
  • Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patient.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Visual acuity and color discrimination is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to comprehend conversation.
  • Must have manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Must anticipate unexpected movements by patients.
  • Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night.
  • Alertness required during all phases of work.
  • Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility.
  • No routine exposure to hazards.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
  • May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.

Responsibilities
