About The Position

Centrally located within the heart of California, Adventist Health Tulare has been serving the Central Valley since 2018. We are comprised of a 108-bed acute care hospital, emergency department and provide primary and specialty care services to best serve our community. Tulare is situated in a delightful and geographically diverse region. There are a variety of opportunities for all-season outdoor recreation such as camping, hiking, water and snow skiing, fishing and boating. It is also within an hour's travel time to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. In addition to the beautiful landscape, it also offers a great cost of living and close-knit communities. Job Summary: Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and MD/Provider with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary. Assists in the daily functioning of the department. Functions as triage tech.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (PM): Required
  • Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPTII): Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Two years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
  • Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
  • Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
  • Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
  • Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
  • Provides patient and family education and mentors and trains staff on technical skills within scope of practice.
  • Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
  • Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
  • Records and collects specimens.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.
  • Assists in the daily functioning of the department.
  • Functions as triage tech.
