The ED Tech assists physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients. This includes performing phlebotomy, transporting patients, placing patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performing wound care, inserting Foley catheters, and obtaining lab specimens. The role may also involve IV starts if permitted by state regulations. The ED Tech is responsible for documenting patient information and procedures, communicating observations to the registered nurse, processing daily patient charges through the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and coordinating communications. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, monitoring equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties are also key responsibilities. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
