About The Position

Mercyhealth is seeking an ED Tech to provide patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures. This role involves answering call lights, documenting care, maintaining a clean environment, managing supplies, processing orders, answering the telephone, directing visitors, maintaining medical records, processing patient charges, and participating in performance improvement activities. Specific duties include performing EKGs, starting IVs, performing venipunctures, assisting with intubations, performing CPR and applying Lucas devices, performing splint applications, assisting with chest tube insertions, performing BGMs, and transporting non-monitored patients.

Requirements

Completion of a CNA program
Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education
Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician program
Graduate of a Paramedic program.
Certified as a Nursing Assistant in applicable state, or
Certified as a Medical Assistant through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) or NCMA Certification through the NCCT that have also completed the education requirements.
Licensed as an EMT-B or EMT-A in applicable state, or
Licensed as a Paramedic in applicable state.
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days

Directs visitors to patient's rooms.
Maintains medical records of current patients.
Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.
Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
Performs 12 Lead EKGs as directed
Starts IV as directed
Performs venipunctures as directed
Assists ED MDs with intubation by gathering needed equipment
Performs CPR and places the Lucas on patients during resuscitations
Performs splint applications
Assist with chest tube insertions by gathering needed supplies equipment
Performs BGMs as directed
Transports non-monitored patients to the inpatient units
