About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Emergency Room Technician assists in the examination and treatment of patients. Shift available is 7A-7p. Preferred start date is May 4,2026.

Requirements

  • Current CPR Certification. (Must obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Previous clinical experience is preferred but not required.
  • Additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the provider’s direct supervision.
  • Obtains vital signs and patient information to include in their medical record.
  • Records vital signs and interventions on patient records in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Assists providers with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments/materials to them as directed.
  • Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments.
  • Assists admissions department in rapid registration of multiple urgent or emergent patients.
  • Notify the appropriate nurse of STAT orders immediately.
  • Reports all changes in resident condition to the supervisor immediately.
  • Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
  • Prepares patients for examination.
  • Explains procedures to patients before administering care.
  • Measures and records heights and weights accurately.
  • Collects or assists providers in collecting specimens. Delivers specimens to the lab in a timely manner.
  • Assists with patient care (wound care, Activities of Daily Life care such as bathing, grooming, etc).
  • Identifies abnormal skin conditions.
  • Assists with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents in and out of beds, chairs, wheelchairs, bathtubs, etc.
  • Assists patients with bowel and bladder functions.
  • Ensures patients who are unable to make needs known are checked frequently.
  • Turn bedfast patients every 2 hours.
  • Keeps patients dry by changing gowns, clothing, linens, etc.
  • Ensures call lights are within reach of residents and answers them promptly.
  • Answers phone and patient call light system and routes call/message to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with communicating patient updates to families and staff.
  • Serves meals in a timely manner and assists patients with feeding if unable to perform self-care.
  • Changes bed linens. Make beds (occupied/unoccupied). Handles linen according to infection control guidelines.
  • Provides post-mortem care as instructed.
  • Maintains accurate and complete patient records.
  • Follows administrative guidelines for maintenance of charts.
  • Enters patient supply charges every shift.
  • Places discharge paperwork in baskets for medical records by end of shift, with supply charges entered into Meditech.
  • Assists with maintaining Periodic Automatic Replacement (PAR) levels and ordering patient supplies and materials.
  • Organizes, cleans, and maintains unit work areas, supplies, and equipment.
  • Photocopies records per request in a timely manner.
  • Prepares appropriate documents for patient transfer.
  • Keeps the work station clean and assists with housekeeping duties (employee fridge, putting away supplies, etc).
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested.
