About The Position

This role is for an ED Tech/Unit Clerk responsible for processing orders and patient charges accurately and in a timely manner. The position involves answering the telephone and call lights, providing information, relaying messages, and directing visitors. The individual will maintain medical records, manage supplies (scanning, stocking, ordering, and disposing of expired items), and provide patient care as assigned according to CNA duties and standards. Documentation of care provided, maintaining a clean work and patient environment, and participating in performance improvement activities are also key aspects of the role. The position may require floating to various units based on identified needs and verifying the accuracy of entered charges. Additional duties include assembling patient folders and charts, and setting up Rauland responder/Vocera/versus for new staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of a CNA program.
  • Completion of a Unit Clerk course or equivalent on the job training (which can be provided).
  • Nursing Assistant Certification in applicable state.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Processes orders and patient charges in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Answers the telephone and call lights in an appropriate and timely manner, providing information or relaying messages to patients and staff.
  • Directs visitors to patients' rooms.
  • Maintains medical records of current patients.
  • Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking, and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
  • Provides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures according to CNA job duties and expectations.
  • Documents care provided according to standards.
  • Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
  • Floats to various units based on identified needs.
  • Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities.
  • Verifies accuracy of charges entered.
  • Facilitates a welcoming environment assisting with visitor wayfinding.
