About The Position

The Security Officer in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff in the hospital setting, specifically the ED. This role involves responding to emergencies, maintaining order, enforcing hospital policies, and providing support during potentially volatile situations, including handling conflicts and deescalating tense situations. The officer collaborates with hospital staff, local law enforcement, and emergency services to maintain a secure environment in the ED.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS/CPR required upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Certified Police Officer with a valid law enforcement certification required.
  • Firearm Certification required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and manage conflicts.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly to emergencies
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding safety, security, and patient confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of emergency procedures, de-escalation techniques, and conflict resolution
  • Current and active police officer
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in law enforcement (i.e., policer officer, military, parole probation, Arkansas department of corrections, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or Associate Degree in law enforcement, social science, physiology, or other related fields preferred.
  • Preferred 1 year of supervisory experience in a health care environment or other setting.
  • Knowledge of security operations and protocols in healthcare or hospital environments
  • Experience in hospital or healthcare security preferred
