ED RN - Emergency Department (Full Time/Nights)
About The Position
The George Washington University Hospital Emergency Department is a 62-bed, 24/7 Level I Trauma Center that provides comprehensive care for patients with acute illness, trauma, and critical emergencies. Our ED features resuscitation rooms, fast-track areas, and dedicated spaces for trauma, cardiac, and stroke care, supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical services. Team members work alongside board-certified emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, and highly skilled emergency-trained nurses in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on exceptional, patient-centered care. As a Registered Nurse in our Level I Trauma Center's Emergency Department, you will be at the forefront of providing critical care to patients with urgent and life-threatening medical conditions. Our Emergency Department is known for its fast-paced environment and its commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. You will work alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals to deliver high-quality care and support to patients and their families during critical times.
Requirements
- BSN or currently enrolled.
- DC RN License, or eligibility
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
- Exceptional clinical skills and judgment.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and react effectively in emergencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in an emergency department or critical care setting is preferred.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification within 1 year of hire
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a dynamic, challenging emergency department setting.
- Perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement care for patients across a wide range of conditions.
- Administer medications, perform procedures, and monitor patient responses to treatment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and research opportunities.
