About The Position

We are hiring Patient Access Technicians to support a fast‑paced hospital environment in both the Emergency Department and Admitting areas. This role is critical to ensuring a smooth patient experience from arrival through registration while supporting revenue cycle accuracy and compliance. Patient Access Technicians serve as the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional customer service while performing registration, insurance verification, and documentation in a high‑volume, high‑pressure clinical setting.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and patient‑facing experience
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume, high‑pressure environment
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn multiple systems
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Previous patient access, registration, or medical reception experience
  • EPIC experience
  • Insurance verification or billing knowledge
  • Experience working in a hospital or emergency department setting

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and families and provide clear instructions upon arrival
  • Complete patient registration by collecting demographics, insurance information, and required signatures
  • Perform quick registration, bedside registration, and full registration based on patient care area
  • Collect co‑payments and enter authorization and billing information as required
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data entry in electronic systems
  • Support multiple ED registration areas including Quick Book, Minor Care, and Main Treatment
  • Perform bedside registration for patients receiving care
  • Maintain professionalism and empathy when working with trauma cases, mental health patients, and critical situations
  • Register patients arriving for inpatient admissions and surgeries
  • Verify insurance, collect payments, and process patient obligation forms
  • Cross‑train to support lab registration and additional patient access locations as needed
  • Utilize EPIC and other computerized systems for registration, verification, and documentation
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and other departments to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
