About The Position

The Nurse Manager leads nursing staff and oversees the overall operations of the Emergency Department. The role uses nursing practice, leadership, delegation, and collaboration across the unit to support positive outcomes and experiences for patients and families. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure. The position is based at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, a 130-bed hospital in Tacoma with a 24-hour Emergency Department. The position is full-time (FTE 1.0) on a day schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or obtain it within five years of the initial hire date. An RN with 15 or more years of service, or an internal candidate hired before January 1, 2021, may be considered as satisfying this requirement in lieu of an education agreement.
Current Registered Nurse license in Washington State or Multistate License endorsement (MLS).

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, ARNP).
Five years of clinical experience in a professional or technical role/function.
Three years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Responsibilities

Define, develop, and monitor standards of patient care and nursing practices.
Ensure the availability and appropriate allocation of human and material resources.
Support collaboration among nursing, physicians, and other disciplines to achieve desired patient care outcomes and department strategic plans.
Coordinate the overall operations of assigned units and the provision of resources.
Facilitate optimal and cost-efficient patient care delivery.
