About The Position

Requirements

  • Two years of college education in nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland.
  • One to two years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience, including regular practice of physical assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated teaching skills.
  • Analytical abilities sufficient to identify nursing care problems.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, staff, other departments and disciplines, families, and physicians (51-80% of work time).
  • Ability to work with severely ill psychiatric patients, frequently producing a high level of stress and mental fatigue (51-80% of work time).
  • Ability to talk, hear, and possess mid-range vision and field of vision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care during the ECT process, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative stages.
  • Identify and address nursing care problems arising during the prescribed course of ECT.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Perform psychiatric nursing and physical assessment skills.
  • Interact effectively with patients, staff, other departments and disciplines, families, and physicians.
  • Manage stressful situations involving severely ill psychiatric patients.
