About The Position

Cardiff is seeking an Economic Research Writer to produce economic and industry research reports. The writer will turn data releases—including CPI, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index, consumer confidence measures, and Federal Reserve decisions—into clear, credible reports that reporters can cite and small business owners can use. Assignments follow a set release calendar. The role also covers industry research on sectors Cardiff serves, analysis of public and Cardiff lending data, quarterly and year-end reporting, and summaries the PR team can pitch to media. Publication deadlines are tied to data release dates.

Requirements

At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Ability to interpret economic data and identify the story with a strong lead.
Published clips in business, finance, or economic writing.
Exceptional English writing; work must be the candidate’s own.
Ability to produce clean, accurate copy requiring minimal editing.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Reliability in meeting turnaround times, often 2 to 5 business days.

Responsibilities

Write recurring reports on economic data releases such as CPI, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index, consumer confidence, jobs, and Federal Reserve rate decisions.
Write industry reports on sectors Cardiff serves, including trucking and freight, construction and trades, agriculture, and food service.
Analyze public data and Cardiff’s lending data to identify key findings and trends.
Produce quarterly and year-end reports that synthesize the year’s data.
Prepare clear report summaries for the PR team to pitch to media.
Meet publication timelines tied to data release dates.
