About The Position

Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy. World Relief seeks an Economic Empowerment Specialist to help refugees and immigrants prepare for, obtain, and retain meaningful employment in the U.S. workforce. This role provides individualized job readiness support, including resume development, interview preparation, workplace navigation, employer connections, and coaching toward long-term economic stability. This position will be focused more on mid to high level position development, while still being expected to assist with entry-level job placements when needed.

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite software (e.g., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience working cross-culturally and with non-native English speakers
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in workforce development, human services, social services, education, or a related field
  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with case management, client documentation, or data entry in a CRM or database system (e.g., Dynamics, Salesforce, or similar) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • At least one year of experience in case management, workforce development, or employment-related support
  • Experience providing employment services, job placement support, or workforce development in a community-based or human services setting
  • Experience working with immigrants, refugees, or culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Familiarity with employer engagement, job matching, or supporting clients through the hiring process
  • Experience with community outreach, relationship-building, or participant recruitment in a nonprofit or workforce development setting
  • Experience with case management systems, client documentation, or data entry in a CRM or database environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client priorities in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized employment services to refugees and immigrants, helping clients prepare for, obtain, retain, and advance in employment within the U.S. workforce
  • Maintain regular contact with clients on assigned caseload, including contacting each client directly at least once per month and providing additional support based on client need, program requirements, and employment goals
  • Ensure clients on assigned caseload remain in compliance with program requirements, including: Maintaining and submitting adequate job search logs according to program guidelines, Attending job club, workshops, classes, and/or other required activities, Meeting monthly with case manager, Participating in required employment planning, job readiness, and follow-up activities
  • Provide practical job search and job readiness support, including resume development, online applications, interview preparation, employer communication, workplace expectations, and professional presentation
  • Help clients understand and navigate the American workplace, including punctuality, attendance, communication with supervisors, workplace culture, conflict resolution, safety expectations, and opportunities for advancement
  • Work with clients to identify realistic employment goals based on prior experience, transferable skills, English level, transportation, childcare, family needs, and long-term career interests
  • Provide job and life skills training services to clients through one-on-one coaching, job club, workshops, employment orientation, and other employment-related activities
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with employers to understand hiring needs, identify job opportunities, support appropriate job matching, and advocate for qualified clients
  • Stay informed about local labor market trends, employer expectations, entry-level job opportunities, and career advancement pathways in order to provide relevant and realistic employment guidance to clients
  • Know and comply with service provision requirements for assigned employment contracts, including confidentiality requirements and the proper handling of personally identifiable information
  • Maintain required case notes, service documentation, and program records in Dynamics, eJAS, and other required systems in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Be willing to assist with and teach Job Readiness Workshop when needed
  • Maintain knowledge of mid to higher level positions and long-term career development
