About The Position

The City of Chandler Economic Development Division is seeking a qualified individual to join their team as an Economic Development Assistant Director. This position serves as second in command of the division, overseeing its activities and operations. The role involves supervising, managing, and leading efforts in business attraction, retention and expansion, entrepreneurship, small business assistance, and personnel functions. It also includes goal setting in collaboration with the Economic Development Director. The division's overall mission is to attract new companies, support existing businesses, and strengthen the local economy by providing site selection assistance, market data, and customized support. Additionally, the division manages Visit Chandler, the City’s tourism program, promoting Chandler as a destination for visitors, meetings, and events to support local businesses. These efforts aim to reinforce Chandler’s reputation as a Community of Innovation with a strong business climate and high quality of life.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Economic Development, Public or Business Administration, Real Estate Development or a related field
  • 8 years of experience in economic development
  • 4 years of supervisory experience
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
  • Must be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment
  • Must be aware of the City of Chandler’s policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol

Responsibilities

  • Supervising, managing and leading the activities and operations of the division
