About The Position

The Economic Benefits Technician performs tasks to ensure efficient departmental operations within the Southern Regional Center (SRC), and serves as the initial point of contact for the Economic and Social Services (ESS) Division. Oh wait, did I mention our excellent benefits package? https://www.wake.gov/employee-benefits-0 Primary functions include: Assisting clients who visit Human Services locations; answering policy questions and troubleshooting case issues Assisting with completion of forms and/or helping clients at self-service computer stations; referring them to internal and external resources as needed Submitting applications and/or recertifications into NCFast; manages evidence in NCFast; maintaining queues in NCFast and OnBase by scanning and indexing documents, maintaining work queues, and documenting case actions and communications with clients Backing up customer service and administrative staff in reception areas Performing administrative functions to support supervisor such as scheduling meetings, contacting clients, job candidates, checking references, and other tasks About Our Team The Wake County Department of Social Services team is grounded in a deep commitment to connection, compassion, and community. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in human services
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Economic Services Program policy and NCFast navigation
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • The ability to listen, react and respond appropriately to others, and to patiently and professionally assist demanding or emotional clientele

Nice To Haves

  • NCFAST experience
  • Six (6) months of experience scanning and indexing electronic data and records
  • One year or more of Customer Service experience in a Human Services or medical clinic setting
  • The ability to interpret from Spanish to English and English to Spanish
