About The Position
Verdantas is offering an exciting Field Ecology Internship at our Tampa East location in central Florida, where you’ll work alongside a team of dedicated Ecologists, Environmental Scientists, and Project Managers. Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant natural science field such as Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, etc
- Working knowledge of the ecosystems in the southeastern United States
- Identification of plants with a focus on wetland species and wildlife listed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
- Available at least 1 day a week for a minimum of 8 hrs
- Availability to work irregular working hours on a schedule (ex. early mornings, long or short days)
- Traversing through wetlands and/or unfavorable conditions
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without an accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
Responsibilities
- Assist field teams with collecting data
- Assist in wetland vegetation monitoring, wetland delineations, listed species surveys, and gopher tortoise relocations
- Assist in the development of project deliverables
