Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking an Echocardiography Technologist 3 to join their team in Nashville, Tennessee. This role involves acquiring echocardiographic data using transthoracic transducer acquisition under physician supervision. Responsibilities include morphologic imaging, assessing myocardial function, recording hemodynamic parameters, and visualizing blood flow. The technologist will independently perform stress echocardiographic testing, may administer contrast imaging under cardiologist direction, and engage in teaching echocardiographic skills. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 7 years experience
  • LIC-Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - Licensure-Others
  • Compliance (Intermediate): Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations and apply them in difficult, stressful and complex situations. Able to interpret and explain rules and regulations that are ambiguous or unclear. Directs others in interpreting rules and regulations on the job and trains others in them.
  • Patient Documentation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of patient documentation in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering patient documentation services without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
  • Echocardiography Technology (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of echocardiography technology in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
  • Diagnostic Equipment (Intermediate): Demonstrates knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Capable of successfully finding and resolving problems using diagnostic tools without requiring support and instruction from others.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews Echocardiology exam requests and patient identification to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective imaging.
  • Applies broad range of skills to ensure exam is completed timely and meets quality and compliance standards.
  • Performs echocardiography for patients with congenital heart problems standards.
  • Demonstrates skill in acquiring clear images on clinically complex patients.
  • May be designated as an interim shift lead in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Acquires echocardiographic data using transthoracic transducer acquisition with the patient at rest under the supervision and/or direction of a physician.
  • Performs morphologic imaging, assessment of myocardial function, recording of hemodynamic parameters, visualization of blood flow.
  • Independently performs stress echocardiographic testing.
  • May perform and administer contrast imaging under the direction of a cardiologist.
  • Engages in teaching others echocardiographic skills.
