About The Position

The Echocardiography Technician will be responsible for providing quality patient care, including direct and indirect patient care, and maintaining accurate patient records. This role involves ensuring the procedure areas are clean and organized, handling biohazard materials safely, and maintaining effective communication. The technician will also be responsible for completing required competency checklists and seeking guidance when needed to ensure continuous learning and safe practice.

Requirements

• Must be registered or registry-eligible in Adult Echocardiography through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), with certification obtained within one year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience performing echocardiograms, OR Four years of on-the-job training and experience working as an echocardiographer.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, including congenital and acquired heart conditions.
• Proficiency in echocardiographic techniques, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow imaging.
• Understanding of ultrasound physics and equipment operation.
• Ability to obtain and interpret diagnostic-quality images independently.
• Skill in patient care and communication, including positioning and explaining procedures.
• Familiarity with clinical documentation standards and use of electronic medical records (EMR).
• Ability to follow protocols and safety procedures, including infection control.
• Physical ability to assist patients and stand for extended periods.

• Handles biohazard materials safely and reports equipment issues or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintains effective communication tools and adapts to changing departmental needs with efficiency.
• Completes required competency checklists within designated timeframes, including age-specific training.
• Seek guidance when needed and escalates complex issues appropriately to ensure continuous learning and safe practice.
