Reporting administratively to the Herma Heart Echocardiography Technician Supervisor, and under the technical direction of a cardiologist performs non invasive cardiac studies according to procedures. Operates echocardiograph diagnostic equipment and maintains echocardiographic laboratory.
Requirements
- Job knowledge acquired through a high school education plus two years of advanced education in echocardiography.
- Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
- Analytical skills required to perform basic diagnostic echocardiograph studies, which demonstrate underlying cardiac pathology to cardiologists who interpret results.
- Attention to detail is essential in order to avoid danger to patients.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with physicians, families, patients and students.
- One of the following: ARDMS-Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider, RCS-Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
Nice To Haves
- Previous echocardiographic experience in a pediatric setting would be desirable.
- Skills to progress within 2 years of hire to include identification of all congenital heart disease anatomy.
- Ability to elicit cooperation form children in order to complete studies is desired.
