About The Position

The non-registered Echo Technologist performs cardiac sonography examinations in an office or hospital setting under the supervision of a credentialed sonographer. Learning to demonstrate the skills and knowledge to assess technical data reflective of patient status relative to age and specific needs, and to learn to assist in the interpretation of same, providing preliminary impressions as appropriate. Delivers quality, cost effective patient care in a professional manner, and works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.

Requirements

  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with an Adult Echocardiography specialty (RDCS-AE) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 1 Year(Required)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Within 2 years of hire if cross training as a sonographer, or 1 year from graduating from an accredited program within 1 Year(Required)

Responsibilities

  • Performs cardiac sonography examinations.
  • Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
  • Educates patients/families regarding the procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
  • Positions the patient and completes the procedure.
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety and quality and prevents or reduces harms through knowledge and application of departmental policies, procedures, and resource documents.
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Follows RHS policies and procedures.
  • Reports variances.
  • Provides effective and efficient assessment, actions, and documentation.
