The Lead Echocardiographer will perform diagnostic ultrasound evaluations of the heart using "M” Mode and 2 D imaging as well as pulse wave, continuous wave and color flow doppler. Will be able to identify the anatomy of the heart using ultrasound techniques. Under the immediate direction of the ECHO/EKG Supervisor, and within established hospital and department policies and procedures, operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment. This role also involves functioning in the role of the ECHO/EKG/EEG supervisor in their absence, assisting with leadership duties, and serving as the primary preceptor for new employees within the echo department. The position also assists in identifying gaps in practice of echo techs and provides education to echo staff to improve quality of scans, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
