About The Position

Operates Ultrasound equipment and performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with department policy and procedures. Operates within the "Standards of Ethics" of the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Works together with physicians to perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures. Sets up and adjusts equipment to perform diagnostic procedures. Is able to position patients to obtain images of the area of interest, while respecting the patient’s ability and comfort. Obtains appropriate patient information for the procedure being completed. Secures and provides a safe environment for the patient, technologist, and anyone else in the area, utilizing PPE and other guidelines as needed. Recognizes emergent situations and activates assistance as needed. Assists other areas and shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal sonography training.
  • Registered by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Certification is required in Ultrasound physics and at least one other ultrasound specialty module.
  • Licensed with the Indiana State Board of Health if applicable.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of imaging the various anatomical structures of the human body.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., 100 lbs. shared lifting.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
  • Analytical skills to be able to identify technologists needs and adapt training appropriately.
  • Strong training skills.
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to travel within health system.
  • Passion and vision to support Parkview Mission.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot equipment, and improvise solutions as needed.

  • Five years’ experience preferred.
  • Some weekend hours may be required at times.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Imaging Director to develop protocols, update protocols, and policies according to ACR standards.
  • Assists all Parkview Health sites in developing specific protocols for their equipment.
  • Is responsible for developing training program for new staff on protocols and procedures.
  • Is responsible for training existing staff on new protocols/procedures.
  • Serves as a consultant to leadership, and site manager as well as the clinical staff to promote optimal performances—including equipment selection decisions.
  • Acts as liaison between Parkview and Educational institutions who assign students for clinical experience at Parkview facilities.
  • Provides reports to managers and leaders on documented training that has been provided.
  • Works with leadership to update policies according to regulatory standards as needed.
  • Assists with annual competencies.
  • Follows up with technologists and physicians on quality concerns and provides additional training as needed.
