About The Position

The Echocardiogram Technologist works under the delegated authority of a supervising physician as a medical imaging professional. The role provides clinically relevant information to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients and delivers diagnostic medical sonography services in the applicable clinical specialties. Work is performed in accordance with the technologist’s education and training, facility policies and procedures, and applicable professional standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Sonography education, training, and experience in the specialty area(s) to be performed.
• At least six months of experience performing echocardiograms on adults.
• Demonstrated competency in echocardiograms on adults.
• Demonstrated competency on pediatric patients within six months of hire.
• Sonographer certification from ARDMS, ARRT, and/or CCI; if hired without certification, certification is required within one year of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Ability to use an echocardiogram machine.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computers and software programs used for documentation and report generation.
• Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.

Nice To Haves

• Pediatric experience.
