Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited echocardiography technology program
  • ARDMS Certified
  • CPR-BLS Certification
  • Quick, accurate decision making
  • Ability to perform effectively under stressful situations, working in fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized
  • Technical proficiency, extensive knowledge and skilled expertise in radiological technology
  • Effective, composed communication to address patient's questions
  • Accepts ownership, completion of dynamic request and seeks opportunities adding value to professional achievements
  • Interpersonal skills, patient focused attitude with passion and sensitivity towards their care

Nice To Haves

  • RDCS, AE Certified preferred
  • Previous experience favorable in cardiovascular imaging setting
  • Proficiency running advanced echo studies independently

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examinations by checking equipment, taking inventory of supplies and replenishing stock as needed, reviewing physician orders and patient schedules, readying recording equipment and inputting patient information
  • Manage patient stress by patiently explaining exam procedure, answering questions and providing ambulatory assistance
  • Position patients, applies medical gels and electrodes, connects and adjusts equipment and verifies wave signals
  • Produce high-quality imaging by accurately positioning transducer, monitoring display, listening to signals, adjusting beam strength and focus, detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities, and recording images
  • Record examination details by printing data and graphics, producing measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity and comparing measurements to established norms
  • Observe all safety policies and protocols for patient protection
  • Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by following established procedures to safeguard confidential information and advising others regarding possible breaches
  • Keep job-related knowledge up to date by taking advantage of educational opportunities, networking, reading professional publications and participating in professional organizations
  • Provide education, training and direction to new technologists
  • According to department standards and protocols set by radiologist, perform all job related functions as an Echo Technologist, including all imaging procedures in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Frequent lifting/movement of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, lift and walk without restrictions
