About The Position

Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart, for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician. Secondary: Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician; preferred but not required. Per Diem positions have no guaranteed hours or set schedule. The position will fill in for individuals who take unplanned and/or planned time off.

Requirements

Current BLS certification required.
Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.

Nice To Haves

Credential (at least one required or completed within 6 months of eligibility) RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer OR CCT – Certified Cardiographic Technician through CCI – Cardiovascular Credentialing International. OR RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer through CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
Minimum one-year experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Review medical records for patient history and supporting clinical data.
Explain procedure to patient; provide patient care, support, comfort, safety and confidentiality.
Select equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep, to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies.
Perform all echocardiography examinations offered at this facility.
Display a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology to obtain optimal studies.
Select and record preliminary study results on work sheet.
Make pertinent measurements and label.
Direct study to Cardiologist for interpretation.
Consult with Cardiologist about unusual scans and assist with interpretation.
Maintain ultrasonography equipment.
Recognize malfunctions and need for servicing.
Ensure quality control procedures are maintained.
Order department supplies.
