About The Position

Capital Health is seeking an Echo Technologist for their Cardiology department. This part-time position involves performing echocardiography examinations, cardiac stress testing, ECGs, and halter monitoring. The technologist will be responsible for acquiring optimal images, providing interpretable data with relevant clinical history, and adhering to ICAEL standards. Duties also include assisting cardiologists with Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Stress Echocardiography, performing TEE scope cleaning, logging and charging procedures, notifying referring physicians of critical findings, managing patient files, maintaining equipment and exam rooms, and troubleshooting equipment issues. The role requires administering sound patient care practices according to hospital and departmental policies.

Requirements

Thorough understanding of echocardiography principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes.
Ability to utilize the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal examinations.
Ability to provide interpretable data, relevant clinical history and technical interpretation results for all examinations performed using ICAEL standards.
Ability to perform other diagnostic cardiology duties such as cardiac stress testing, ECG, and halter-monitoring as assigned.
Ability to perform cleaning procedure post-TEE to ensure integrity of TEE scope following infection control guidelines and department policy.
Ability to assist cardiologist in performing Transesophageal Echocardiography and accurately acquire images as directed.
Ability to assist cardiologist / nurse practitioner in performing Stress Echocardiography and accurately acquire images as directed.
Ability to log and charge all procedures performed and route studies to the physician for interpretation.
Ability to notify referring physician with preliminary results upon identification of potentially critical findings or STAT examination.
Ability to retrieve patient files for all previously seen patients and combine with labeled paperwork.
Ability to assist with other cardiology diagnostic duties including processing ECG filing and electronic management system.
Ability to maintain equipment, exam rooms and work area in a neat and safe condition.
Ability to ensure rooms are stocked with supplies and exam rooms are readily available for procedures.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and report equipment issues to biomedical engineering/vendor.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and aseptic cleaning of all patient related equipment.
Ability to operate imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
Ability to administer sound patient care practices according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
