About The Position

The primary purpose of an Echo Tech is to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic techniques to perform routine, vascular, non-invasive procedures, and echocardiograms to include 2D, Color Doppler, Pulse Wave, and Stress. Requirements

  • Registered or registry eligible as a Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Prefer two (2) years allied health program or two (2) years of college with biological sciences.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in cardiovascular echocardiography
  • Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and be able to correlate this information into a useful study.

Responsibilities

  • Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
  • Confidentiality of clinic and patient information.
  • Correlates clinical history with the test to be performed.
  • Performs complete study including M MODE, REAL TIME, COLOR FLOW MAPPING and DOPPLER.
  • Prepares patients for examination and explains procedure to patients while performing studies.
  • Promotes effective working relationships and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goal and objectives.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Participates in reading with physician and contributes professional knowledge to final diagnostic impression or report.
  • Maintains order cleanliness of all equipment and work area.
  • Consults with referring physician, regarding patient’s previous history.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
