The Echo/Vascular Sonographer III provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager. This role requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in their job discipline or field, leading others in complex problem-solving, and using sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions. The sonographer works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations, interpreting internal/external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes, or services. They recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, document pertinent clinical and diagnostic information, and work closely with providers to perform diagnostic sonographic exams. The role involves exercising professional judgment, delivering appropriate care, and complying with all state and federal regulations. The sonographer assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs, provides instructions for patient cooperation, performs proper patient identification, acquires and documents clinical history, and positions the patient and equipment for optimal imaging. They assess diagnostic images for quality, annotation, and identification, and comply with Quality Control standards. The role also includes administering medical aid in emergencies, applying standard precautions, utilizing Orlando Health computer systems, ensuring customer safety, and maintaining accurate documentation. Communication and collaboration with the healthcare team are essential. The Echo/Vascular Sonographer III participates in supervising students, training new sonographers, directing workflow, quality and safety initiatives, acting as a department super user, participating in committees, and attending educational in-services and complex care programs. They are expected to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance and compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
