About The Position

This is a PRN Echo Cardiac Technologist opportunity at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. The role involves performing, administering, and monitoring Cardio-Diagnostic tests with a primary emphasis on cardiac sonography and doppler studies. The technologist will provide physicians with preliminary findings of recorded data through monitoring and performing necessary calculations, demonstrating appropriate knowledge and skills for patients from pediatric through geriatric. This includes following physician's instructions, preparing and operating equipment, and positioning patients correctly to record diagnostic images, while treating patients with care and respect.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Applicant must be eligible to sit for their registry at the time of hire and must successfully pass it within one year from start date through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, RDCS; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Cardiac Sonographer, RCS, Advanced Cardiac Sonographer, ACS, or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, RCCS.
• Pass written exam for Basic EKG interpretation with score >85% initially and repeat yearly.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.

Nice To Haves

• May also require Advanced Life Support certification, if applicable.
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
• Minimum of one year of experience in Echocardiography, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs, administers & monitors Cardio-Diagnostic tests with primary emphasis on cardiac sonography and doppler studies.
• Administers all Cardio-Diagnostic tests.
• Provides physician with preliminary findings of recorded data through monitoring and performing the necessary calculations, in a timely fashion while demonstrating the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to work with patients from pediatric through geriatric.
• Follows physician's instructions, prepares and operates equipment and positions patients correctly in order to record the requested diagnostic images.
• Treats patients with care and respect.
