About The Position

The Y is seeking a Teacher for its Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) classroom. This role is for someone passionate about providing children and their families with an excellent educational experience in a supportive environment that values contributions and communication skills. The ECEAP Early Education Teacher works alongside the Lead Teacher to implement engaging activities and supervise children, adhering to program and state requirements. This is a full-time position at the Redmond location, with a Monday-Friday schedule varying between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The Y is committed to equity, actively promoting a culture free from bias and injustice, and removing institutional and systemic barriers to create equitable and sustainable environments where social justice is woven into every facet of its programs.

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• CDA (Child Development Associate)
• Experience working with children the same age as those to be supervised
• Completion of minimum STARS-required training
• Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry, MERIT
• Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (i.e., language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
• Ability to speak any language in addition to English

Responsibilities

• Implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities with the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA.
• Coordinate activities which fit children's individual developmental needs.
• Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.
• Complete individual child observations alongside Lead Teacher for child assessments.
• Professionally communicate with and maintain positive relationships with families.
• Keep family communication sheets up to date, including daily record of activities, meals, and family information notes.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Provide assistance to Lead Teacher and may fill in during temporary absences.
• Maintain ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of classroom.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
