Engineer

LanceSoft•Foster City, CA

About The Position

The ECAD Library & PLM Engineer owns the Altium component library and administers its integration with Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX)/ENOVIA. The role manages electrical part creation and release, maintains PLM workflows and data structures, and supports collaboration between electrical and mechanical engineering. It also drives library data quality and supports release engineering and new product introduction (NPI), including verification of manufacturing data packages and BOM accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in ECAD library management, PLM administration, or electrical design data management in a hardware product environment.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Altium Designer, including Altium 365, vaults, managed components, and library management workflows.
  • Production experience administering a PLM system; Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE/ENOVIA is strongly preferred, including workflows, change management, and configuration.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA and MCAD–ECAD collaborative design data exchange formats, including IDX/IDF and STEP.
  • Strong grasp of electronics component fundamentals, including packages, datasheet interpretation, tolerance and derating parameters, and manufacturer part numbering.
  • Fluency with IPC standards for footprint and land pattern design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting automotive, aerospace, or other safety-critical or regulated hardware programs.
  • Familiarity with automotive component qualification standards (AEC-Q100/Q200) and functional safety documentation practices.
  • Prior involvement in PLM implementation, migration, or a major version upgrade.
  • Experience supporting PCB layout for boards with 10 or more layers.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Altium component library, including schematic symbols, PCB footprints, models, and parametric metadata.
  • Administer and evolve the Altium-to-3DEXPERIENCE integration, keeping electrical part masters, revisions, and BOM structures synchronized between ECAD and PLM.
  • Manage electrical part creation and release: intake design-engineer requests, validate manufacturer data, assign internal part numbers, and guide parts through review and release.
  • Configure and maintain 3DX (ENOVIA) workflows, change management, classification schemas, and attribute structures for electrical and electromechanical content.
  • Partner with mechanical engineering on CATIA/3DX interoperability, including PCB 3D models, connector geometry, harness routing data, and enclosure fit checks.
  • Improve library data quality through duplicate detection, obsolescence and end-of-life flagging, and alternate/equivalent part management.
  • Support release engineering and NPI by verifying manufacturing data packages, fabrication and assembly outputs, and BOM accuracy before design releases.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on schematic, BOM, and layout changes, including component placement and trace routing.
